Synctunes FAQ
How to sync to external sdcard ?
By default it will store to location recommended by your phone manufacturer. However we provide a setting in synctunes android app where you can change the location to external sdcard. To do that your first step should be to unsync/delete any music from phone you’ve previously synced, if you do not, it will take up space unnecessary disk space, because we are now defining new location and all music would now go there. To set the new location open synctunes on your phone then go to Settings -> Service uncheck it. The change the sdcard location and check the service again. Press back button to come back to main screen. Now when you sync again your files will go to external sdcard. If you can not locate the sdcard settings please contact us for help
I purchased the upgrade version and can only sync 100 songs. What am I doing wrong ?
This happens if you have free and paid versions both installed on your android device. Please uninstall free version and keep the paid. Free version has blue icon and paid has green icon. Once free version is uninstalled, please start the paid version – Green icon. You might have to go to Settings of the app and check-mark the ‘service’ if not already enabled. No change is required on the desktop app Not all of my music is transferred to android If you use iTunes match/icloud then it is likely that your music is actually sitting on the internet. Apple prevents third-party apps from accessing music in iCloud. However this is easy to resolve. You should open iTunes locate your music and click on the cloud icon to download it from cloud to your computer. Once downloaded, sync with synctunes by selecting you playlists which contain your music synctunes will transfer the files which you just downloaded from cloud
Kitkat update does not sync to previous sdcard path ?
Google has changed kitkat behavior, now apps can not write to external sdcard root or any given location of choice, apps are now allocated a folder which is quite deep like android/data/package-name/synctunes. I am having problem using it, how to solve it ? please consult the troubleshoot guide here, it resolves the problem in most of the cases. Feel free to contact us if your problem remains unresolved
How can I play my videos or music after I have synced them to android?
Use built in music/video player to play your music/videos (nearly all android phones have a music player and a video player). If you do not have any or want to get a better one, get one from Google play, you can find them free,. Synctunes shows that files are transferred but I can not find them in android ? Synctunes sends the music to android and stores them on sdcard. The location on most tablets/mobiles is /sdcard/synctunes unless you changed it. Your music/video player should automatically locate the new music/videos via android which keeps record of all the music/videos/pictures which is called media cache. Sometime media cache of android gets out of sync to force it to scan again you can go to synctunes -> scan media and then wait for a few minutes, until android rescans the new music. If still it is not visible in your music/video player you can clear media cache by going to Home -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Media Storage -> ClearData. Then reboot your Android to force the cache to be rebuilt.
How do I remove music/videos that I synced ?
You can uncheck the playlist(s) you want to remove from your phone/tablet and then sync, after sync is complete it will have removed all the music files contained in that playlist from your phone/tablet unless some of your music files were contained in another playlist which you still check marked before sync. To remove all music from your phone or tablet, uncheck all playlists and then sync. It takes a few seconds and all the previously synced music is removed. To remove only some music you can do the following. for example you synced ‘My top 2020’ playlist which contained 1000 songs, if you open iTunes and update that playlist by removing 100 songs out of it then open synctunes and sync the same playlist ‘My top 2020’ checked then your 100 songs that you removed from that playlist in iTunes will be removed from your phone after sync is complete. If you do not want to modify that ‘My top 2020’ playlist but rather want some part of it to be synced then you can follow this. Go to iTunes and create a new playlist ‘My top 2020 short list’ (call it whatever you like) and add some music from your previous list to this one , let’s say 50 songs or whatever you like then open synctunes uncheck ‘My top 2020’ and check ‘My top 2020 short list’ and sync, after sync your phone will contain only the songs of new playlist which contains 50 songs, if you uncheck every thing then sync, all songs will be removed
